How to use the worksheet maker
- Type your words. Enter a name, a spelling list, a sentence or a few lines of a poem, one per line. Long lines wrap onto the next row.
- Choose a layout. Trace each line and then copy it on a blank row, repeat each line across the row, or print blank writing lines only.
- Choose the tracing style and size. Light gray letters or a dotted outline to trace, and a letter size from small to extra large. Large suits children just starting; medium is a good everyday size; small is close to adult handwriting.
- Add the guides you want. Slant guide lines help keep the lean even, and a descender line shows where the tails of g, j, p, q, y and z stop. You can also add a name and date line.
- Print at 100 percent. Fit-to-page printing shrinks the lines and makes the sheet harder to write on.
Ideas for what to type
- A child's name and the names of family members and pets.
- This week's spelling words.
- Letter pairs from the guide to joins, such as an, it, we, on, be and fo.
- A short saying or a line from a favorite book, for a first full sentence.
- Your own address, for an adult relearning cursive.
